What file format should I use for postcard printing?

PDF is the best format for postcard printing because it locks your fonts, images, and layout in place so nothing shifts during production. Other print-ready formats are accepted too: AI and EPS work well for vector logos and type, and PSD or TIFF suit photographic layouts. Whatever the format, export with print settings rather than screen settings.

• Color mode: CMYK, not RGB, so on-screen color matches the press.
• Resolution: 300 DPI for crisp images and text.
• Bleed: 0.125" on all sides so there are no white edges after trimming.
• Crop marks: included so the trim lines are clear.
• Fonts: outlined (in InDesign or Illustrator) or embedded and flattened so type prints exactly as designed.

Getting these export settings right the first time avoids the most common production delays, like reflowed text or fuzzy images.
