What Are Event Badges?

What PVC Event Badges Are Made Of
PVC event badges are printed on one of two stocks: 18pt PVC Vinyl, a plastic sheet that shrugs off rain, spilled coffee and a full day of handling, or 30pt Gloss Laminated card, a thicker printed card sealed under gloss film. Both take full color on both faces, a drilled hole or a lanyard slot, and optional rounded corners.

Match the stock to the length of the event. Lanyards, clips and badge holders

Color is also the cheapest way to sort a crowd: one color for attendees, one for staff, one for exhibitors, readable across a hall before anyone reads a word.
On the badge itself you choose a 5/16 in drilled hole or a lanyard slot. The drilled hole takes a hook or a cord and suits a badge worn all day. The slot takes a flat lanyard clip and keeps the badge hanging square instead of twisting face inward, which is worth having when the badge carries a QR code someone has to scan.

Rush event badge printing for a tight event date
Standard production is 5 business days, with 4, 3, 2 and 1 day rush and Same Day above it. The reason badges get rushed is almost never the print: it is that the attendee list is still moving.
Work back from the doors. Four and three day rush is the comfortable choice when registration closes about a week out, and it leaves a day of slack for a reprint if a name is wrong. Two day and one day rush is for a list that closes the week of the event. Same Day is the last resort for a walk-in surge or a batch of late VIP additions, where you print a short second run rather than reprinting the lot.
If the list is still changing, split the order: print the confirmed names now on the standard turnaround, and hold a small rush run for the stragglers. That costs less than rushing every badge and gets the bulk of them on site early.
