Hand Over a Folder That Catches the Light on the Table
This is the folder that carries your pitch. Each one measures 9 by 12 inches with two pockets sized for letter paper, printed on 14 or 16 point gloss stock, with a clear high-gloss UV coating laid over the outside and pockets so your logo or headline turns glossy while the rest stays flat. Leave a proposal behind after a meeting, build a real estate listing packet, or hand a new client a welcome kit, and a spot UV folder makes the first impression do some of the selling. Five hundred start at $2,194.56, rated a perfect 5.0 out of 5.
The finish is the whole point. Spot UV targets just the parts you want people to notice, so a wordmark or a border goes glassy and flashes when the folder tilts under office lights, while everything around it reads flat by contrast. Want to see how it sits next to the rest of the range? Browse every option on presentation folders printing, or stay here and build yours from the choices below.
The price rewards a bigger run in a hurry. A set of 500 starts at $2,194.56, and the per-folder cost keeps sliding as the count climbs toward 10,000, so a full order for a launch or a sales team costs far less per folder than a small test batch. What Spot UV Does on a Presentation Folder
Spot UV is a clear, high-gloss coating cured onto only the areas you mark, so those shapes sit raised and wet-looking against the flat print around them. On this folder it covers the outside and the pockets, which means the body of the design keeps the even sheen of 14pt or 16pt gloss cover stock while the logo, a headline or one graphic shape carries the raised gloss.
The effect is contrast, not color. Under room light the coated shapes throw a highlight and the rest of the folder does not, so the mark moves as the folder is lifted off a table or slid across it. That is also why spot UV reads strongest over solid, dark ink and nearly disappears over pale areas: the gloss needs something underneath to sit against.
Artwork survives a spot UV mask when the shapes are large enough to hold their edge. Logos, display type, rules, borders and big graphic blocks all hold. Hairlines, small serif text and fine texture do not, because the coating spreads slightly as it cures and closes up detail that fine. Treat the mask as a spotlight and light one thing with it. The same rule runs through the rest of our presentation folders and through spot UV business cards, where the gloss has far less room to work with.
What Is a Spot UV Presentation Folder?
A spot UV presentation folder is a 9 by 12 inch two-pocket folder printed on gloss cover stock with a clear, high-gloss UV coating applied to selected areas of the outside and pockets. At 4OVER4.COM it holds letter-size documents and 8.5 by 11 inch inserts, prints 4/0 or 4/4, comes in 14 or 16 point gloss stock, and takes optional business card slits, all set in the live configurator.
Picture the folder you slide across the table at the start of a pitch. Inside sit your proposal, a rate sheet, maybe a signed contract, all held in two pockets sized for letter paper. The outside is where a spot UV folder earns its keep: a clear gloss coating laid over just the parts you choose, so a logo or a headline lifts off the surface and catches the light while the rest stays flat. It is the presentation folder you reach for when the first impression has to do some of the selling.
What Is Spot UV, and Why Choose It?
Spot UV is a clear, high-gloss coating cured under ultraviolet light and applied only to specific areas of a print, not the whole surface. On 4OVER4.COM spot UV presentation folders it goes on the outside and the pockets, so a logo, pattern, or headline turns glossy and reflective against the surrounding stock. The effect adds shine and a subtle raised feel you notice by hand, without changing the folder size or fold.
The finish is the whole point. Instead of coating the entire folder, spot UV targets the elements you want people to notice: a wordmark, an icon, a border, a texture behind your name. Those areas go glassy and reflective, so they flash when the folder tilts under office lights, while everything around them reads flat by contrast. You can feel the difference too, a slight ridge where the coating sits. If you want a bolder, physically raised version of the same idea, the Raised Spot UV Pocket Folders push the coating up higher, and the Silk Laminated Presentation Folders take the opposite route with an all-over soft-touch matte.
What Size and Pocket Options Are There?
4OVER4.COM spot UV presentation folders come in one finished size, 9 by 12 inches, built to hold letter-size documents and 8.5 by 11 inch inserts. You choose the pocket layout: a standard two-pocket folder, a single pocket on the left front, or a single pocket on the right back. Business card slits are optional and can go on the right pocket, the left pocket, both, or neither.
The 9 by 12 footprint is the classic presentation folder shape, so proposals, brochures, and rate cards drop straight in without folding. From there you set the pockets. The standard two-pocket folder holds a document on each side, one for the pitch and one for the leave-behind. Prefer something leaner? Put a single pocket on the left front or the right back and keep the other panel clean for a printed message. Then decide on business card slits: add a diagonal cut to the right pocket, the left pocket, or both, and your card tucks in and travels with the folder instead of falling loose in a bag. Every one of these choices is laid out below exactly the way the live configurator presents it.
What Material and Print Options Can You Choose?
4OVER4.COM offers two materials for spot UV presentation folders: 14 point gloss cover and 16 point gloss cover, with the 16 point stock giving a sturdier, heavier folder. You print the outside in full color with a blank inside (4/0) or full color on both sides (4/4). Material, ink coverage, and every other option are set in the configurator and grouped below.
Start with the stock. The 14 point gloss cover is the lighter, everyday choice, and the 16 point steps up the weight for a folder that feels substantial the moment it is picked up. Both are gloss cover, so the spot UV reads cleanly against them. For ink, 4/0 keeps the inside clean and white while the cover carries your brand and the spot UV shine, which keeps the cost down. Step up to 4/4 and you print the inside pockets too, room for a welcome note, a checklist, a specs table, or a QR code that sends the reader somewhere. Pair a 16 point stock with 4/4 printing and spot UV on the outside, and a folder starts doing real work for your brand.

Wally makes the folder shine before the pitch starts
Why a glossy spot UV coating gets a folder noticed the second it hits the table.

A spot UV presentation folder puts a clear, high-gloss coating over your logo and headline, so they catch the light while the rest stays flat. It is a 9 by 12 two-pocket folder on gloss stock, built to hold your pitch and leave an impression. Order 500 from $2,194.56, add business card slits, and hand over something that looks closed before the meeting starts.
Keep going and 2,500 folders run $3,623.55 at $1.45 each, 5,000 run $5,490.79 at $1.10 each, and 10,000 land at $10,433.48, or $1.04 a folder. If you know a bigger run is coming, ordering it in one go is where the real savings sit, and you can apply 4OVER4 loyalty coins for up to 10% off the order.
Can You See a Proof Before Printing?
Yes. 4OVER4.COM offers two proofing paths for spot UV presentation folders: Straight To Production, which sends your file to print right away, or a Free Online Proof, which returns a digital proof of your folder for approval before anything runs. Free Online Proof is the safer choice for a folder that carries your brand to a client.
A presentation folder is not the place to discover a typo or a misplaced coating. That is what the free online proof is for. Pick it and you get back a digital proof laid out on the real folder shape, so you can check the fold, the pocket art, the spot UV placement, and every line of copy before a single sheet is coated. In a hurry and confident in your file? Straight To Production skips the proof and gets the job moving. Either way the proof itself is free, and you decide which path fits the deadline. See how proofing works across the shop on free proofs.
How to Set Up a Spot UV File
Spot UV is a second pass on press, so the file has to tell us where the coating goes. One PDF carries both the printed artwork and the coating mask, on separate layers.
- Build the folder artwork in CMYK on your normal layers, exactly as you want it printed.
- Add one more layer above it and name it SpotUV. Nothing else lives on that layer.
- Draw the mask as solid shapes filled 100% K. Black means gloss, white means no gloss, and anything in between is a guess we would rather not make for you.
- Keep the mask off hairlines and small text. Give it logos, display type, rules and large shapes instead, so the coating has an edge it can hold.
- Register the mask to the CMYK artwork on the same page geometry. If the mask sits even slightly off, the gloss lands beside the logo rather than on it.
- Export both layers in one PDF without flattening, then check your free online proof before the run starts.
How Fast Can You Get Them, and Who Uses Them?
Spot UV presentation folders print on a 7 business day standard turnaround at 4OVER4.COM. They are used for sales pitches, investor and board decks, real estate listing packets, new-client welcome kits, conference handouts, and press kits, anywhere a branded folder needs to look as sharp as the documents inside it.
Standard production is 7 business days, so plan the order around your meeting, pitch, or event and you are set. As for who reaches for these: sales teams that leave a folder behind after a pitch, real estate agents building listing packets, agencies sending press kits, and firms handing new clients a welcome folder on day one. The common thread is a moment where the packaging has to signal the same care as the contents, and a little glossy shine in the right place does exactly that.
How Do These Compare to Other Folders?
Spot UV is the glossy-accent pick, but it is not your only move. If you are weighing a bolder raised finish, a soft-touch matte, or a lower entry price, it helps to see the trade-off in plain numbers. The Raised Spot UV Pocket Folders lift the coating higher for a stronger tactile edge, the Silk Laminated Presentation Folders go all-over soft-touch matte, and the classic Pocket Folders start much lower when the finish is not the point. The chart below lines up spot UV folders against their closest siblings so you can compare the starting price on each before you choose.
Spot UV Presentation Folders: Frequently Asked Questions
Does spot UV cost more than a plain folder?
Spot UV is a coating pass on top of printing, and the price you see on this page already includes it: 500 folders from $2,194.56, sliding from $4.39 to $1.04 per folder as the run climbs to 10,000. A folder without the coating is a different product, so compare the two prices in the configurator rather than assuming a surcharge.
Can spot UV go on both sides?
On this folder the coating covers the outside and the pockets, which is where it is seen. The printing is what changes sides: 4/0 prints the outside only, 4/4 adds the inside panels.
How small can text be under the gloss?
Small enough to read is not the same as small enough to coat. Keep the mask on logos, display type and graphic shapes; leave body copy, hairlines and fine serifs uncoated. The coating spreads a little as it cures, so fine detail closes up and the shape stops looking deliberate.
Does spot UV work over matte lamination?
Gloss against matte is the sharpest version of the effect, because the flat field makes the coated shape jump. This folder runs on 14pt or 16pt gloss cover, so the contrast comes from the raised coating catching light at an angle rather than from a matte background. Ask us before you order if you need a matte body under the gloss.
Does spot UV slow the turnaround down?
No. The 7 business day standard turnaround on this page is the spot UV turnaround, counted from proof approval rather than from the moment you upload.
