Spot UV is a second pass on press, so the file has to tell us where the coating goes. One PDF carries both the printed artwork and the coating mask, on separate layers.
- Build the folder artwork in CMYK on your normal layers, exactly as you want it printed.
- Add one more layer above it and name it SpotUV. Nothing else lives on that layer.
- Draw the mask as solid shapes filled 100% K. Black means gloss, white means no gloss, and anything in between is a guess we would rather not make for you.
