Question

If I have a border or carefully centered graphic as part of my design, are they going to be ok?

Answer

Borders and carefully centered graphics are the elements most affected by normal cutting movement. A frame that looks perfectly even on screen can trim slightly uneven, so plan the design with that tolerance in mind.

  • If centering your artwork is critical, we generally do not recommend borders.
  • If the borders are to be printed, keep them thick and set well inside the trim line.
  • Avoid thin, hairline frames, which reveal even a small cutting shift.
  • Hold centered graphics inside the safety margin so nothing important sits near the edge.

For designs where symmetry is essential, a borderless or full-bleed layout is the more forgiving option.
