Question

I have a border or carefully centered graphic as a part of my design, are they going to be ok?

Answer

Borders and perfectly centered artwork are the riskiest elements in any print file. Every job has a small amount of movement during cutting, so a border that looks even in your file can end up looking slightly uneven after trimming.

  • If centering your artwork is critical, we generally do not recommend borders.
  • If you do use a border, keep it thick and pulled well inside the trim so a tiny shift is not obvious.
  • A hairline or very thin border tends to look lopsided if the cut lands even slightly off.
  • Keep the border and any centered graphic inside the safety margin, not against the edge.

When symmetry matters most, a full-bleed background or a design without a frame is the safer choice.
