How well will my job match what I see on my monitor?

Colors on a monitor screen are not necessarily indicative of ink on paper or other printed mediums. Screens emit light in RGB and are often brighter and more saturated than printed CMYK ink, so a design can look more vivid on your display than it does in hand. A few steps close the gap.

• Screens are RGB, print is CMYK: the two color systems reproduce color differently, so some shift is expected.
• Monitors vary: brightness and calibration differ from screen to screen, so no display is a perfect reference.
• Design in CMYK: working in CMYK gives you a more print-accurate preview than RGB.
• Order a hard-copy proof: when color is critical, a printed proof shows the true result before a full run.
