Question
What is the minimum page count for perfect-bound booklets?
Answer
Perfect binding requires a minimum number of inside pages because the spine needs enough thickness for the glue to hold the pages together securely. If a project only has a handful of pages, the spine would be too thin to bind well, so a different method usually works better.
- Why there is a minimum: the glued spine needs enough page bulk to stay bound.
- Very low page counts are better suited to saddle stitch.
- Higher page counts give a wider, more durable spine you can print a title on.
- Total page counts are usually even numbers.
