Question
What color mode should my file be in?
Answer
Your file must be in CMYK color mode. RGB and Pantone (spot) colors are converted to CMYK during file processing, and that conversion can affect color accuracy, so it is best to convert and review the result yourself first.
| Color mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| CMYK | Prints as submitted, no conversion needed |
| RGB | Auto-converted to CMYK, vivid tones may dull |
| Pantone / spot | Auto-converted to the nearest CMYK build, exact match not guaranteed |
- Convert to CMYK in your design app and compare before and after.
- If a Pantone match is critical, pick the closest CMYK value yourself.
- Export a print-ready PDF to keep the mode intact.
