What resolution should I use for printing?

Use 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size. That is the standard that keeps text crisp and images sharp across nearly every product. Files saved at screen resolution, usually 72 DPI, look fine online but turn soft or pixelated once printed.

• Small and mid-size prints: 300 DPI at actual size.
• Large format (banners, big posters): 150 DPI is fine because they are viewed from a distance.
• Watch for: web images and stretched-up low-res files, which cannot gain detail they never had.
• Tip: a pre-flight or file check flags low-resolution artwork before it reaches the press.
