Question

What file format should I use for business printing?

Answer

Commercial printing is predictable when you hand over a print-ready file built to a few shared standards. A properly prepared PDF removes almost all of the guesswork on press.

  • Format: a high-resolution, press-ready PDF.
  • Fonts: outlined or embedded so nothing substitutes or reflows.
  • Images: 300 DPI minimum at final size.
  • Color mode: CMYK, not RGB, for accurate reproduction.
  • Bleed: 0.125 inch on all sides when color runs to the edge.

If you are not a designer, starting from a blank product template keeps bleed, trim, and safe margins correct from the first click.
