Question
What does 4/4 ink color mean?
Answer
4/4 means full-color printing on both sides of the piece. The first 4 covers the front and the second 4 covers the back, with each 4 standing for the four CMYK process inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) that combine to reproduce full color.
- Front prints in full color using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
- Back also prints in full color, so both sides can carry photos and rich color.
- Compared to 4/0, it adds full color to the reverse rather than leaving it blank. A 4/1 spec sits in between, with a full-color front and a single-ink back.
- Ideal when both sides do real work, like a business card with your name, logo, and branding on the front and a map, tagline, QR code, or bold graphic on the back.
