What does "full color" or "4/4" mean on a print order?

In print shorthand, the two numbers separated by a slash describe how many ink colors go on each side of a sheet.

| 4/0 | Full color front, blank back |
| 4/1 | Full color front, single color back (usually black) |
| 1/1 | Single color on both sides |
- The 4 refers to the four CMYK process inks: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
- The first number is the front, the second is the back.
- A 0 means that side is left unprinted.
- More ink coverage on a side generally means higher cost.
