Why do online proofs appear blurry or low quality?
Answer
Online proofs are shown at low resolution for quick preview, which is why they can look soft. That softness is a display artifact and does not predict how the final print will look.
- Preview proofs are downscaled for speed, so on-screen blur is expected; use them for layout and content review, not quality assessment.
- Final sharpness depends on your source file, not the proof.
- Build and save artwork at 300 dpi or higher at the correct finished size for a crisp print.
- As long as the correct file was used and the design is accurate, the print will look sharp; a low-resolution proof does not mean the printed product will be blurry.
