Question

What bleed is required for label files?

Answer

Labels use bleed for the same reason stickers do: to guarantee color runs to the very edge with no white slivers after the cut. The standard requirement is 0.125" (1/8") of bleed on every side of your artwork.

  • Bleed amount: 0.125" (1/8") on all four sides.
  • Extend the art: push background color and images past the trim into the bleed zone.
  • Keep content safe: hold text and logos a comfortable margin inside the trim so nothing is clipped.
  • Sizing: build the document at your finished label size, then add the bleed around it.
