Question

What's a safe zone and why does it matter?

Answer

The safe zone is the inner margin, usually about 0.125 inch inside the trim line, where all your important content should stay. Anything you cannot afford to lose belongs inside it.

  • Keep text, logos, phone numbers, and key details inside the safe zone
  • Leave a margin between important elements and the cut edge
  • It protects your content against slight variations in where the cutter lands

Cutting can drift a hair in either direction, so the safe zone is your buffer that guarantees critical information does not get trimmed off. Pair it with proper bleed and your file is set up for a clean, reliable cut.
