How to use the business & brand tools

  1. Pick the tool for the job: a business name, a slogan, card wording, a brand kit, fonts, colours, a proofread or a mailing cost.
  2. Type what you have: your business, your copy, your colours or the size of your mailing.
  3. Compare the results and keep the ones that fit your brand.
  4. Use them on your artwork and order your business cards or your mailing.

Common questions

What do these tools help with?

Naming the business, writing the slogan and the card wording, building a brand kit, pairing fonts, pulling or building a colour palette, proofreading copy, and costing a direct mail campaign.

Are they free?

The mailing calculator, the font pairing tool and the brand colours tool are free and run in your browser. The writing tools cost a few coins, and the first use is free.

Do you check that a business name is available?

No. Search the name, your state's business register and the USPTO trademark database before you print it.

Will the colours print the way I see them?

Every colour is put through a real press profile so you can see what it becomes in ink. Order a proof when a brand colour has to match exactly.

The expensive decisions are not design decisions

A quarter inch over the postcard size limit changes what every piece in a ten thousand piece mailing costs to post. A brand colour picked on a screen prints as something else. A typo on a thousand brochures is a reprint.

These are arithmetic, standards and proofreading problems, and they are worth getting right before anyone opens a design tool. The calculators and the colour and font tools are free; the writing tools cost a few coins.
