What file format and color setup do you require for print files?

4OVER4 prints in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black, the four inks of full-color printing), so every print file needs CMYK color values rather than RGB. There is no required color profile, but files should be converted before you submit them.

• Set your document to CMYK color mode from the start.
• Convert any RGB artwork to CMYK in your design program before exporting. Files left in RGB are converted during processing, which can shift some colors.
• Check that images, fills and vector art are all CMYK, including placed images.
• Review colors after converting, since bright RGB blues, greens and neons can shift once they land in CMYK.
• For a critical spot color you can reference a Pantone number, but provide CMYK values as the working color space.
• Export as a print-ready PDF whenever possible to lock in the color mode.

Converting yourself lets you preview and adjust colors instead of being surprised by an automatic conversion.
