Question
Is the color quality as good as offset printing?
Answer
For most commercial work, yes. Modern digital presses produce color that is virtually indistinguishable from offset, and for short and medium runs digital is often the more practical choice. The gap that used to exist has largely closed.
- Everyday commercial jobs: cards, flyers, postcards, and brochures look sharp and accurate on digital.
- Consistency depends on calibration: regularly calibrated presses hold steady CMYK output across a run.
- Photo-heavy pieces: images reproduce crisp and vivid, well within commercial expectations.
- Where offset still leads: very large volumes and certain spot-color or specialty-ink jobs.
Design in CMYK and review a proof, and digital output will hold up next to offset for nearly any everyday project.
