Does spot UV work on any paper stock?

Technically it can go on almost any stock, but it only looks its best where there is contrast to play against. Spot UV shines, quite literally, on matte and soft-touch surfaces because the glossy accent pops next to the flat base. Apply it over a glossy stock and the shiny coating blends into the shiny paper, leaving almost no visible effect.

• Best base: matte or soft-touch laminated cards for maximum contrast.
• Weak base: gloss coated stock, where the accent nearly disappears.
• Stock weight: 16pt or heavier holds the raised coating cleanly and feels premium.
• For the strongest look, pair spot UV with matte lamination on a thick stock.
