Can I apply UV coating to any paper stock?

You can, but the effect looks far better on some stocks than others. Spot UV relies on contrast between the glossy coated area and the surface around it, so the flatter that surrounding surface is, the more the coating pops.

• Matte, uncoated and soft-touch stocks give the sharpest contrast and the best results.
• An already-glossy stock mutes the effect, because there is little contrast to play against.
• Heavier stocks, 16pt and up, hold the coating cleanly and feel more premium.
• Raised or dimensional UV needs a rigid, thicker stock to carry the texture.
