What is aqueous coating?

Aqueous coating is a fast-drying, water-based clear layer applied across the whole sheet to protect it and give it a chosen sheen. Because it is water-based, it is a more eco-friendly option than solvent or UV coatings.

Compared with UV coating: aqueous cures with heat and air inline on the press and forms a thin, clear layer, costs less and is easier to recycle. UV coating is plastic-based and cures under ultraviolet light into a thicker, harder, glossier layer, at a higher cost and harder to recycle. Choose aqueous for value and easy recycling, and UV for the most intense gloss.
