Pixels are not a paper size. A pixel count only means something once the resolution is fixed, which is why the chart asks for a DPI before it shows one.

This chart is a standards reference, not a price list. The "We print it" column marks the sizes 4OVER4 runs as a stock product. Anything else is a custom cut, so send us the dimensions and we will quote it.

What the Standard Flyers configurator says about size

Sizes
The configurator offers 9 sizes for this product. Every one of them is listed above, exactly as the configurator lists it.
Custom size
This product takes a custom size. The configurator accepts 4 to 11 in on the width and 5.5 to 25.5 in on the height, in steps of 0.1 in.
Press limits
On top of the product limits the press bounds apply: the shorter side must be 1.5 to 22 in and the longer side 1.5 to 28 in. The configurator turns the size the same way round before it checks, so 11 x 2.5 and 2.5 x 11 are the same size to it.
If it is out of range
This custom size is currently not available for this product. Please select a different combination (switch between width and height values) or try selecting another product from the Print Products Menu. Contact us if you have a Custom Order.

About the paper size reference

The whole chart, in inches, millimetres and pixels at whatever resolution you set, with the sizes 4OVER4 prints marked.

A4 is 210 x 297 mm, which is 8.27 x 11.69 inches; US Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches. They are different shapes, so artwork never scales cleanly between them.

Why A4 halves so neatly and Letter does not

Every ISO A size has the same aspect ratio, the square root of two, about 1.414. That is the one ratio where cutting the sheet in half across its long side gives you the same shape again. A0 is one square metre at that ratio, A1 is half of A0, A2 is half of A1, and so on down.

North American sizes come from a different history. Letter is 8.5 x 11 in with a ratio of 1.294, and half of it, 5.5 x 8.5 in, has a ratio of 1.545. They are different shapes, so scaling artwork from one to the other always leaves a margin or crops something.

The B and C series

The B series sits between the A sizes and is used for posters, books and envelopes where A is slightly too small. B4 is 250 x 353 mm, between A4 and A3.

The C series is the envelope series, sized so that a C4 envelope takes an A4 sheet flat, a C5 takes A4 folded once, and a C6 takes A4 folded twice. That is the whole design intent: C holds A.

Inches, millimetres and pixels

The ISO sizes are defined in millimetres and the inch figures are conversions, so they are never round numbers. A4 is exactly 210 x 297 mm and approximately 8.27 x 11.69 in.

Pixels are not a paper size. A pixel count only means something once you fix a resolution: A4 at 300 DPI is 2480 x 3508 pixels, at 150 DPI it is 1240 x 1754. Set the DPI in the chart above to see any size at the resolution you are working at.

Common questions

Questions about paper sizes

What size is A4 in inches?

8.27 x 11.69 inches, which is exactly 210 x 297 mm. It is slightly narrower and slightly taller than US Letter at 8.5 x 11 inches.

What size is A4 in pixels?

2480 x 3508 pixels at 300 DPI, or 1240 x 1754 pixels at 150 DPI. A paper size has no fixed pixel count until you choose a resolution.

What is the difference between A4 and Letter?

A4 is 210 x 297 mm and Letter is 216 x 279 mm. A4 is about 6 mm narrower and 18 mm taller, and the two have different aspect ratios, so artwork never scales cleanly between them.

Why is each A size exactly half the last one?

Because the A series uses the square root of two as its aspect ratio, the only ratio that keeps its proportions when the sheet is halved across the long side. A0 is one square metre at that ratio.

What is the C paper series for?

Envelopes. A C4 envelope takes an A4 sheet flat, C5 takes A4 folded once, and C6 takes A4 folded twice. The C sizes sit between the matching A and B sizes.
