Type the dishes the way you would write them down. The layout, the leader prices and the bleed are handled for you.
Free blank templatesA menu is a list, and lists have rules
The dish name is what people scan for, so it is set bold and first. The description is quieter and smaller, because nobody reads every one. The price sits on the right where the eye can run down the column, and it does not get a currency symbol on every line if you do not want one.
Sections get a rule under them so the eye knows where one course ends. That is most of menu design, and this does it for you.
Why the size matters more than the font
8.5 x 11 in is the single-page menu. 4.25 x 11 in is the slim insert for drinks or specials. 11 x 17 in folds in half into a two-page menu and gets two columns here. 5.5 x 8.5 in is a table card.
Whatever a customer picks up and puts down gets laminated, because a paper menu in a restaurant lasts about a fortnight.
