Question

What should I check before approving my proofs?

Answer

Approving a proof is your sign-off that the file is correct, so review it slowly and deliberately. Compare every element against what you intended before accepting it.

  • Images: the correct photos, in the right place, not stretched or oddly cropped.
  • Text: spelling, legibility, and position all correct.
  • Sides: the right front and back show for a two-sided piece.
  • Special features: foil, spot finishes, and coatings appear where expected.
  • Layout: nothing important sits near the trim edge.
  • Rep notes: scroll to the bottom of the proofs page and read any notes your rep added; they may flag a change, a limitation, or a question that needs your response before you approve.

If anything looks off, reject the proof and upload a corrected file rather than approving with reservations.
