Question

Why does my proof look different from my original design, especially with borders or spacing?

Answer

Proofs are generated automatically from your uploaded file using 4OVER4 production specifications, so what you see reflects how the file will actually be trimmed and printed. Differences in borders, spacing, or cropping almost always trace back to bleed and trim, not an error in printing.

  • Bleed and trim: art near the edge is drawn into the 0.25" bleed and may appear closer to the border once trimmed.
  • Thin borders: frames placed near the cut line can look uneven, since commercial trimming has a small tolerance.
  • Safe zone: content that drifts outside the safe margin can shift or clip in the proof.

Compare the proof against the design specs for your product type. If you still believe the printed result does not match the approved proof, contact support with images of both your design file and the proof so they can investigate.
