The trim line is where the printed sheet is cut down to its final size. It is the boundary between the finished piece and the surrounding bleed that gets trimmed away.
- Final size: the trim line defines the exact dimensions of the finished product.
- Bleed: the area just outside the trim line, which is cut off during finishing.
- Safe zone: the area just inside the trim line where important content should stay.
Think of the trim line as the true edge of your piece. Backgrounds should cross it into the bleed, while text and logos should stop short of it inside the safe zone.
