Question
How can I indicate a cut line in my artwork?
Answer
If you are working from one of our die-cut templates, the cut guides are already included, so you can design right up to them. If you are submitting a custom project that needs custom die-cutting, mark the cut line clearly so we build the die exactly where you want the shape.
- Use the template guides: our die-cut templates already show the cut line, trim, and safe zone.
- Draw the cut as a vector path: for custom shapes, create the cut line as a separate labeled path.
- Put it on its own layer: keeping the cut line off your artwork layer makes it easy to identify.
- Extend the bleed past the cut: run backgrounds beyond the cut line so no white slivers appear.
