How can I indicate a cut line in my artwork?

If you are working from a printer's die-cut template, the cut guides are already included, so you can design right up to them. If you are submitting a custom project that needs custom die-cutting, mark the cut line clearly so the die is built exactly where you want the shape.

• Use the template guides: printer die-cut templates usually show the cut line, trim, and safe zone.
• Draw the cut as a vector path: for custom shapes, create the cut line as a separate labeled path.
• Put it on its own layer: keeping the cut line off your artwork layer makes it easy to identify.
• Extend the bleed past the cut: run backgrounds beyond the cut line so no white slivers appear.
