Question

Typography, Text, and Line Art

Answer

Small type and thin line art are where print detail is easiest to lose, so there is a practical minimum that keeps everything legible after printing and trimming.

  • Keep all text at least 8pt size, based on the Arial font, for legibility.
  • Some decorative or very light typefaces need to be a bit larger than 8pt to stay readable.
  • Convert or outline fonts, or embed them, so nothing reflows on our end.
  • Avoid placing critical text right against the trim edge.

When in doubt, size type up slightly rather than down.
