Question

Why does a commercial printer need to be FSC® certified?

Answer

A printer needs its own FSC chain-of-custody certification so the integrity of the FSC claim is preserved all the way to you. Certified paper only keeps its status if every business that handles it is also certified. If an uncertified printer touched the job, the chain would break and the finished piece could not carry the FSC label.

  • Unbroken chain: each link, from forest to mill to printer, must be certified to keep the claim valid
  • Verifiable label: only a certified printer can legitimately apply the FSC mark to your job
  • Audited accountability: certified printers are checked to confirm certified and non-certified stock stay separate
  • Trust for your readers: the label they see is backed by real traceability, not a claim on paper alone
