Question
What is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Certified Paper?
Answer
FSC-certified paper is made with fiber that has been tracked from responsibly managed forests through every step of the supply chain. It carries real environmental and social benefits because the sourcing standards protect forest ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and the rights of workers and local communities.
- Traceable fiber: the wood is documented from the forest to the mill to the printer
- Environmental benefit: harvesting is managed to protect biodiversity, water, and soil
- Social benefit: standards respect worker safety and community and indigenous rights
- Credible claim: the finished piece can carry the FSC label when printed by a certified printer
