What is the difference between elemental chlorine free (ECF) and totally chlorine free (TCF)?
Answer
Paper is usually bright white because the pulp has been bleached, and traditional chlorine bleaching is harmful to the environment. ECF and TCF describe two cleaner approaches to that whitening step.
