Question

Photo Color Settings

Answer

Cameras and screens work in RGB, but printing is done in CMYK. That difference is why an image can look more vivid on your display than in the final print.

  • Pictures taken with a camera or shown on a monitor default to RGB color mode.
  • All printing is done in CMYK color mode.
  • Converting from RGB to CMYK can slightly mute the brightest colors.
  • Setting your files to CMYK before uploading gives you the closest control over the result.

Check your colors in CMYK, then confirm them on the proof before approving.
