What's the difference between bleed and safe zone?
Answer
Bleed and the safe zone are two margins on opposite sides of the trim line, and they solve opposite problems. Bleed reaches outward past the trim so no white slivers show after cutting, while the safe zone pulls important content inward so nothing critical gets clipped.

- Push any background color or photo that touches an edge all the way into the bleed.
- Hold all text, logos and important details at least 0.125 in inside the trim on every side.
- Cutting has a small mechanical tolerance, and these two margins absorb that shift so the final piece stays clean.
- Most printers offer templates with all three zones marked; design inside those guides.
