How should I set up my design file for raised foil?

Raised foil uses a dedicated layer that marks where the raised metallic effect is applied, so that layer has to be separate and precise.

• Create a separate foil layer and fill the foil shapes with a solid spot color (magenta or a named spot is common) on its own layer.
• Keep the foil artwork as vector for clean, sharp raised edges.
• Download the correct blank template for your product before you design so trim and bleed line up.
• Keep foil elements bold. Hairline strokes and tiny type do not hold a raised effect well.
• Keep your CMYK color layer separate from the foil layer and export a layered PDF.
