Question
How do I prevent my stamps from staining?
Answer
Cleaning immediately after use is the biggest factor in preventing stains. Even so, some dark inks leave a faint tint, which is usually cosmetic and does not affect how the stamp prints.
- Wipe the stamp the moment you finish so ink never has time to set into the surface.
- Expect deep reds and blacks to leave light staining even after a good cleaning.
- If the look bothers you, apply a thin layer of stamp cleaner before inking to create a barrier that makes cleanup easier.
- Remember that a stained stamp can still produce perfectly clean impressions.
Focus on print quality over appearance, since a lightly stained stamp works just as well as a pristine one.
