Question

How do I fix air bubbles after applying vinyl to furniture?

Answer

Air bubbles under fresh vinyl are common and usually easy to fix. Tiny ones often settle on their own, while larger ones take a quick pinprick and a squeegee pass.

  • Small bubbles under about 1 cm often disappear within 48 hours as the film relaxes.
  • For larger bubbles, prick the center with a fine pin at a 45-degree angle.
  • Press flat with a squeegee, working outward from the puncture to push the air out.
  • Warm the vinyl slightly first if it feels stiff, so it flattens without creasing.

Prevention beats fixing. Use the hinge method to line up the design, then squeegee firmly from the center outward as you lay it down.
