How does debossing look on single-layer vs. two-layer stock?

Debossing presses your design into the surface of the stock to create a recessed impression. How clean and deep that impression looks depends heavily on how much material the press has to work with.

• Single-layer stock: the recess is shallower, and the pressure often shows through as a faint raised ghost on the reverse side.
• Two-layer (duplexed) stock: the extra thickness absorbs the press, so the deboss looks deeper and crisper and is far less visible on the back.
• Best result: a heavier, multi-layer stock gives the sharpest, most tactile impression.

If a strong, clean deboss is the goal, lean toward a thicker duplexed card rather than a thin single sheet.
