Question

How much bleed should I add to my banner design?

Answer

Bleed is the extra artwork that extends past the trim line so no white edge shows if the cut shifts slightly. For banners, a little more bleed than usual is smart because large-format trimming has more room to drift.

Banner widthRecommended bleed (all sides)
Under 4 ft0.25 inches
4 ft or wider0.5 inches
  • Extend background colors and images fully into the bleed area.
  • Keep important text and logos at least 0.5 inch inside the trim as a safe margin.
  • Always check the product template for exact bleed and safe-zone specs.
