Question

Can I get a tax exemption refund on a recent order?

Answer

If your organization qualifies for tax exemption, 4OVER4 can review whether the sales tax charged on a recent order can be refunded. The key is providing a valid exemption certificate so the team can verify your status against the order.

  • Contact support with your valid tax exemption certificate, such as a 501(c) determination letter or a state exemption certificate, along with your account email and the affected order number.
  • Make sure the certificate is current and matches the state the order ships to.
  • They review your account and recent order to confirm eligibility, and once the paperwork is verified your account is flagged as tax-exempt.
  • You will be told whether a refund of the charged tax can be applied; approved refunds go back to your original payment method.
  • 30 day limit: sales tax on orders placed more than 30 days ago is not refunded, because 4OVER4 pays the collected tax to the state every month.

Keeping your certificate on file also lets future orders be placed tax-free from the start, so you avoid requesting a refund each time. Options and turnaround can vary and may change, so confirm the latest details on the product page or with 4OVER4 support.
