Will Raised Spot UV show up on a black background?
Answer
Yes. On a dark or black background, Raised Spot UV reads through a contrast of finish, not of color: the 16pt Velvet Laminated Cover the cards print on stays matte and soft, while the raised UV is glossy and catches the light as the card tilts.
- Black on black: a black logo in raised UV on a black background shows as shine and texture rather than as a color change.
- Size matters: bold shapes and heavier type read best; very thin lines and tiny text are harder to see in raised UV.
- Rich black background: build large black areas as C50 M40 Y40 K100 rather than 100% K alone, for a deep, solid black behind the gloss.
