Question
Raised Spot UV Business Cards Design Requirements
Answer
Because Raised Spot UV Business Cards use a special-effect finish, your standard full-color artwork is not enough on its own. You also need to supply a separate Black Mask file, which acts like a stencil that tells us exactly where the raised effect should sit so it lands precisely where you want it.
- Color (CMYK) file: your normal print-ready design in full color, showing the card exactly as it should look
- Black Mask file: a second file at the same size and alignment, with the effect areas filled 100% K (solid black) and everything else left white
- Keep both files the same dimensions and perfectly registered so the effect lines up with your artwork
- Use clean vector shapes or crisp, high-resolution elements. Very thin lines or tiny text can be hard to reproduce cleanly
- Include the standard bleed and keep important detail inside the safe margin
