What is a physical proof and how do I order one?
A physical proof is a printed sample of your product that you review in hand before committing to the full print run, so you are judging real ink, stock, and finish rather than a screen preview.
- What it is: an actual printed piece, not an on-screen image.
- How to order: choose the next-day physical proof option during checkout.
- Why it helps: you confirm true color, material, and quality before the full quantity prints.
Approve the physical proof once it matches your expectations, then the rest of the order proceeds.
Yes, 4OVER4 offers physical proofs for an additional fee. A physical proof is requested separately after you have reviewed the online proof.
- Accept the online proof for your order first.
- Request to view and purchase a physical proof separately.
- A hard copy proof costs $75 on most products, or $150 for multi-page books and die-cut shapes. It is not offered on every product; 3D lenticular products, for example, offer only the online proof.
A physical proof is worth the extra cost when you need to check the actual paper, finish, or color before committing to a full run.
This page also answers:
- Can I get a physical proof of my order?
The hard copy proof prints on the same paper or cardstock as your final order and covers one copy. Need proofs sent to more than one address? Contact support with the number of proofs and addresses for a quote. Plan for the extra time: the proof prints 1 to 2 business days after you accept the online proof, and it must be signed and returned before the full run starts.
