What does the red line on my proof mean?

A red line or border on your proof is a guide mark, not part of your printed product. It shows where the piece will be trimmed or finished.

• What it marks: the cut line where the piece is trimmed, plus fold lines or other bindery positions.
• Bleed: a grey line beyond the red line marks the bleed edge, so extend your background art out to it.
• Trim line: everything outside it is cut away, and everything inside stays on the final piece.
• Not printed: guide lines never appear on the finished piece.
• Safe zone: keep important text, logos and images well inside fold and trim lines.

Red letters can also label the panels of a folded piece, so you can see how the layout maps to each section.
