Can Carbonless Forms be printed in full color?

The top sheet can be full color, but the copies underneath usually are not. The NCR coating on the lower plies limits how ink sits on them, and heavy ink coverage can also interfere with how cleanly the writing transfers to the sheets below.

• Top sheet (white copy): full color, so your logo, branding, and layout print in full.
• Lower copies: typically one ink color, usually black, because of the carbonless coating.
• Keep the fillable form fields and lines in a single dark color for the sharpest transfer on every copy, and design the form so critical fields read clearly even in single color on the back plies.
• Avoid heavy solid backgrounds across the writing area, since dense ink can reduce transfer quality underneath.

A colorful header paired with clean, dark form fields gives you strong branding without sacrificing legible copies.
