Question
If I want to add a border or background to my label design without changing the overall label size, what do I need to do?
Answer
A border or background does not add extra room to a label, it lives inside the size you already ordered. So if you want to add a frame without ordering a bigger label, you have to make space for it by pulling your existing content inward rather than pushing the border outward.
- Work within the ordered size: the border must fit inside your original label dimensions. You cannot add space beyond the specified measurements.
- Redistribute content: shrink or reflow your text and graphics slightly so the border sits around them without overlapping the trim.
- Or size up: if you would rather not reduce the design area, increase the overall label dimensions to absorb the border.
- Keep the safety margin: hold the border and key content inside the safe zone so nothing gets clipped at the cut.
