Question

Do I need to add bleed to my file?

Answer

Bleed is optional, but if you use it your file dimensions have to grow to match. Otherwise you can leave a clean margin and skip it.

  • No bleed needed if you keep a white border or generous margin around the design.
  • If you add bleed (commonly 0.5"), enlarge the file to include it.
  • Example: a 16×16" design with 0.5" bleed on all sides is submitted as a 17×17" file.

Keep essential text and logos inside the trim area so nothing is cut off.
