Question
What file specifications are needed for hang tags?
Answer
Hang tag artwork should arrive as a print-ready PDF with the full specs noted so nothing is left to guesswork.
- Format: a print-ready PDF.
- Size: the finished dimensions, for example 2" x 2".
- Material: the stock, for example 14pt uncoated.
- Printing: the print sides, for example 4/0 for one side printed.
- Special options: any finishing, for example a 1/8" drill hole.
- Bleed: build the file at the required total size with bleed included, which is slightly larger than the finished size. Bleed is the extra image area trimmed off after cutting.
- Safe area: keep important text and logos safely inside the trim, away from the edges.
- Build sizes vary by product, so confirm the exact dimensions for your specific order and have your designer match the file to them.
