Question

What happens if my postcard is slightly oversized?

Answer

If your card creeps past the postcard-rate maximum, USPS reclassifies it as a letter and you pay the higher letter rate. Push the size much further and it can become a flat, which costs even more. Always measure the finished, trimmed card before buying postage.

ClassificationTriggerStamp
PostcardUp to 4.25 x 6 in$0.56
LetterSlightly over the postcard limit$0.73
FlatBeyond 6.125 x 11.5 inHigher than a letter

A small trim mistake can quietly move an entire mailing into the more expensive tier, so verify before you print at scale.
