Question
What's the difference between metallic foil and raised foil?
Answer
Metallic foil products are created by the traditional hot foil stamping method, so the finish of the foil is flat and sits flush with the card surface. Raised foil, by contrast, is built up with dimension so it stands above the surface. The metal look is similar. The difference is whether the foil is flat or raised.
| Metallic Foil | Raised Foil | |
|---|---|---|
| Method | Traditional hot foil stamping | Built-up dimensional foil |
| Finish | Flat, flush with the surface | Raised above the surface |
| Feel | Smooth | Tactile, with height |
- Both deliver a crisp metallic shine in your chosen foil color.
- Choose raised foil when you want the design to be felt as well as seen.
