What is "Spot UV"?

Spot UV is a finishing technique where a clear, high-gloss UV coating is applied to a specific area of your design so that it pops off the paper with a glossy shine while the rest stays matte. The contrast between the coated and uncoated areas is what makes the effect stand out.

• Selective, not overall: the gloss is applied only where you want it, such as a logo, title, or pattern.
• Best on matte or dull backgrounds: the flat surface makes the glossy spot far more noticeable.
• Great for highlighting: brand names, icons, key text, and design accents.
• Setup note: a separate spot UV layer or mask tells the press exactly where to lay the coating.
